Boys and Girls Clubs of Philadelphia
The BGCP provides programs and activities at two of PHA's
community centers, Wilson Park in South Philadelphia and the John
F. Street Community Center in North Philadelphia. Both
locations offer programs for 1st through 5th graders from 3:00 PM
to 6:00 PM, and for 12-18 year olds from 6:00 to 8:00, Monday
through Friday. Activities at the centers focus on five core areas:
education and career development; character and leadership
development, health and life skills; the arts; fitness and
recreation. There is no charge to families for their children's
participation in the BGCP programs at the PHA locations. The
programs provide places where youth of all ages and backgrounds can
develop the intellectual, social, emotional and moral skills to
become responsible, caring and productive citizens.
The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia is to
enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to
reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible
citizens. A Boys & Girls Club provides:
- A safe place to learn and grow
- Ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals
- Life-enhancing programs and character development
- Hope and opportunity
