Housing Choice Definition

“Housing Choice” is the name of a program formerly known as Section 8. Through Housing Choice, PHA provides rental assistance to low-income families in privately owned housing. We do this with funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The intent of Housing Choice is to help low-income tenants toward home ownership. We have three programs to help our tenants become homeowners. At PHA, we know that increasing the number of homeowners is key to revitalizing the city’s neighborhoods.
